Tune-Ups $500 - $1,000
There is a lot of confusion about what exactly a Tune-Up is because there are many different names that describe - essentially - this one job. Those names include Play Condition, Regulation and Adjustment, COA's - also known as Clean, Oil, and Adjust, and half a dozen other names that indicate repairs which are smaller in scope than an Overhaul.
Every Tune Up is different. I will discuss with you exactly what will be done, and exactly what will not be done. The extent of this service will vary greatly and depends on several factors; the age, the condition, the maintenance history, and the manufacturing quality of your horn as well its playability at that time.
The goal of this job is to get your horn into the best playing condition for the least amount of labor time. All the meticulous detailed work that goes into Full Mechanical Rebuilds is not necessary for this job. There are lots of horns being played in the world with loose keywork and old adjustment materials. The thing to remember is that horns with loose key work and old adjustment materials will need more frequent shop visits. However, your horn will play very well when it is done, and since we will both know what is not being done, expectations are kept under control.
